BAKED FALAFEL WITH HEALTHY SAUCE (NO TAHINI) / ETSİZ NOHUT KÖFTESİ (TAHİNSİZ)

Falafel is usually deep-fried and served with or in pitta bread, with a tahini sauce. It looks like a calorie bomb but it's actually an innocent protein bomb. Don't worry, I've got your back! :)

This baked version is REALLY easy and quick to prepare, so filling and healthy...and tastes deep fried without deep frying!

Ingredients:
2 cans of chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
1 chopped red onion
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 cup of chopped parsley
Half a cup of coriander
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 tablespoon of sesame seeds (optional)

Directions:

1. Heat the oven to 170 degrees.

2. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until chunky but not pureed, scraping down the sides as needed.

3. Using a spoon or your hands, make small balls and gently flatten them to form the falafel shape.

4. Put them on a baking sheet or grease the baking tray. Brush the top of the falafel with oil and a sprinkle of sesames.

5. Bake them for 20 minutes, until golden and crispy on the outside. (You can flip them halfway if necessary.)

6. Serve with the healthy yogurt sauce below:

Yoghurt Sauce:

Ingredients:
1 cup of plain yogurt
Half cup parsley
2-3 drops of lemon
Salt
Red chillies
1 clove garlic

Directions:Mix everything in a blender until smooth.

Bon appetite!
